RAGI PALAK POORI AND BANANA STEM DHAL

 Finger millet Palak poori

Ingredients

Palak keerai or Indian spinach.                    1/2 cup
Ragi or finger millet flour                               1 cup
Wheat flour.                                                     1 cup
Oil
Basil or omam.                                                1/2 tsp
Green chilli.                     

1.      In a pan, wash Indian spinach and green chilli.  Add both the items in a hot water and boil it for one minute.  Filter the water for soup. Because it has some nutrients that can be consumed by adding salt and pepper in it, if required.

2.      Grind the spinach and chilli till it forms a nice paste.

3.      Add ragi flour, wheat flour, salt, grinded paste and mix it well.  Till it forms a soft dough.  Make small balls and evenly flatten it, like a poori.  In a hot oil, fry these tasty yummy poori.  One of the best dish for kids is ragi palak poori.

BANANA STEM DHAL

INGREDIANTS

Dry red chilli                               3
Turmeric powder.                     1/4 tsp
Toor dal.                                     1/8 cup or 125 gm
 Finely chopped banana stem 1/2 cup or 500g
Channa dal.                                 2 tsp
Oil.                                               50 ml
Mustard seeds                           1/2 tsp
Asoefitida.                                  One pinch
Salt to taste

PREPARATION

It takes around 20 min, if the channa and toor dal are soaked for one hour.  In a pan, heat the oil and add Mustard seeds. After the cracked seeds, add banana stem stir it and close lid for five minutes in a low flame.  Meanwhile, grind both the dal with chillies, salt, asoefitida, turmeric into a coarse paste.  Now, pour the paste in half cooked banana stem and stir it.  Close the lid for 10 min until every ingredient are fully cooked. Finally, add salt and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
